Mathias A. Mbah is the Assistant Dean of Graduate School at Bowie State University. Dr. Mbah has a consistent record of success in areas of leadership/advocacy, compliance, cost control, diversity, program design, and student development. His time at Bowie State University has been marked by series of major accomplishments. Dr. Mbah is responsible for the management of the day-to-day administrative operations of the Graduate School, insures that the appropriate resources are available for the School’s operations and activities, managed and supervised BSU/UMUC Partnership European graduate programs, and develops and plans programs to support the mission of the graduate school. He oversees the operations of the Graduate Assistantship Program, as well as administering the Graduate Comprehensive/Qualifying Examinations program. Dr. Mbah handles graduate student issues: evaluate and provide responses to issues raised by graduate students, create solutions for issues raised by students regarding academic programs and graduate school policies and procedures. He prepares annual reports on the progress of the graduate school, develops initiatives and programs to support and enhance graduate level programs, such as Program Assessment plan and student-oriented program and provides assistance to the graduate dean on policy and procedural matters.

Prior to assuming the position of the Assistant Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Mbah served as the Chair of the Department of Business, Public Administration and Economics at Bowie State University. Dr. Mbah testified to MHEC the justification for the creation of Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Bowie State University, lead the initiation/justification for the creation of the School of Business at Bowie State University to the Education Committee of the UMS Board of Regents and served as the Founding Dean. He initiated and formed the Board of Advisers of the School of Business. Dr. Mbah served as a board member of organizations that include; National Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Business School Deans’ Roundtable, Public Member on the US State Department’s Foreign Service Selection Board. Dr. Mbah’s academic/research interest is in Economics and Management Information Systems. Dr. Mbah has presented and published in scholarly journals. Dr. Mbah received a B.Sc. in Management, M. A. in Economics from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, M. S. in Management Information Systems from the Watson School of Technology at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton and a Ph.D. in Economics from Howard University in Washington, DC.
