Focus Areas

1. Data-Driven Insights: We provide the necessary expertise and resources to develop data-driven understandings of the current state of our research areas. Whether it's analyzing trends in sports  gambling or examining issues of health equity, our goal is to equip stakeholders with actionable insights.

2. Student Innovation: The Center is committed to inspiring students through innovative training in the latest data analytics tools and techniques. We aim to cultivate a new generation of data scientists who can tackle complex challenges with creativity and analytical rigor.

3. Support for Academic Excellence: We support academic programs and faculty research while offering specialized
instruction in technical fields. Our robust technical infrastructure is designed to foster entrepreneurial ventures, ensuring that our
students and partners have the resources they need to succeed.

Summer Trainings: A collaboration with the College of Business to host a two-week sports data camp for local teens, in partnership with the Brian Westbrook Foundation. We also offer a four-week data analytics summer training program for graduate students, funded by the Department of Education.

Department of Education Grant: This project focuses on three key objectives: expanding data analytics professional development for Bowie State faculty, providing training and mentorship for Bowie State graduate students, and implementing community research projects to deliver data-driven solutions. The Center for Data Analytics has conducted several training series for students, supported student research projects and presentations at professional conferences, and created mini-grants to fund faculty-led, community-engaged research initiatives.

Truist Community Project: Supported by Truist, this project
provides data analytics training to small businesses and non-profits serving Prince George’s County’s economically vulnerable communities. Through a workshop series consisting of six sessions, businesses are paired with students who help identify data challenges, develop analytical solutions, and offer
continued support in data analytics.

Data Science and Analytics Symposium: The Symposium is Bowie State's premier data analytics symposium, bringing together data science influencers, academic thought leaders, business and industry innovators, and some of Bowie State’s top students. The Center for Data Analytics collaborates with the College of Business, MIS Dept. and the U.S. Census Bureau to host this 2-day event, which features dynamic panels and forums centered on relevant research andemerging trends in data science.
