The Engage Center offers access to industry-standard platforms and systems that support your career readiness and experiential learning from exploration to employment. These tools are available to current undergraduate and graduate students, with select systems accessible to eligible alumni. Explore the following systems to support your career journey including Handshake, Sigi3, Quinncia, LinkedIn Learning, and more.
Handshake — Career Management System
Handshake is Bowie State University’s primary career management and recruiting platform. It includes a job and internship database, personalized recommendations, employer event registration, and more. Current students and alumni from 2020 forward have access to Handshake. Handshake accounts are automatically pregenerated for students their first semester and require an account activation from the student after then login for the first time to the system.
What you can do in Handshake:
- Request appointments with your assigned Career Readiness Counseling and Education Specialist (Function Coming Soon!)
- Sign up for workshops on a variety of career readiness and experiential learning topics
- Search for full-time jobs, part-time jobs, internships, volunteer, experiential learning opportunities
- Get personalized job and internship recommendations
- Register for career fairs
- Register for recruiting events including employer info sessions, interview sessions, networking sessions, and more
- Access career readiness planning guides and resources
- And more
Quinncia — Resume and Interview Prep System
Quinncia is a career preparation platform that helps you strengthen your application materials and interview skills with instant feedback and AI-powered tools. Current students have access to Quinncia.
What you can do in Quinncia:
- Improve your resume or CV with feedback and suggestions
- Practice interview questions and refine responses
- Test content for ATS (Applicant Tracking System) compatibility
- Build confidence with mock interview scenarios
SIGI³ — Career Assessment System
SIGI³ (System of Interactive Guidance and Information) is the Engage Center’s career assessment system designed to help students explore career interests, values, skills, and academic majors. SIGI³ is especially helpful for students who are undecided, considering a change in major, or want to explore career options more intentionally. Current students have access to SIGI³.
What you can do in SIGI³:
- Complete self-assessments focused on interests, values, and skills
- Explore career options and academic majors aligned with your results
- Learn about occupations, required education, and career pathways
- Support informed decision-making and career readiness planning
SIGI³ may be recommended by your Career Readiness Counseling and Education Specialist as part of your 1-on-1 appointment or career exploration process.
