Save the Date for Workday: July 1, 2024!

Bowie State University will soon replace the current Human Resources and Finance System (PeopleSoft) with Workday, a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning system designed to meet the specialized needs of higher education. The project, known as Maryland Connect, is a collaborative effort of five University System of Maryland schools. Bowie State is joined by Coppin State University, Frostburg State University and the University of Baltimore. 

The Road to Launch

After more than two years of preparation, the Workday Project team began the final phase of implementation that began in the summer of 2023.

  • Workday’s Human Capital Management, Finance, and Payroll will go live in July 2024.
  • Workday offers configurable options that allows USM to adapt the system to their unique business processes and requirements.

  • Workday infrastructure, policies, and procedures ensure your data is secure and protected. Security threats and risks are mitigated through strong internal controls and a comprehensive security program. Workday regularly passes rigorous third-party compliance audits.
  • Workday has a built-in approval process for various tasks. Depending on the nature of the task, your request is sent to your manager or the relevant department for approval.
  • You will receive notifications in Workday when an action is required. These notifications will appear in your Workday My Tasks.
  • Data in Workday is updated in real-time. Once a transaction is completed, it is immediately reflected in the system.

  • Yes, Workday is a cloud-based platform, which means it is hosted and accessed via the internet, eliminating the need for on-premises infrastructure.
  • Workday is accessible through a web browser. 
  • The recommended browser is Google Chrome. Mozilla Firefox and Safari can also be used.
