Charting a Way Forward After Campus Altercation

(BOWIE, Md.) – Bowie State University experienced a disturbing encounter on our campus on the late evening of Tuesday, September 22, 2020, which extended into the morning of September 23. Immediately after receiving the report, President Aminta H. Breaux called for a review of the incident. She worked with university leaders to ensure that all appropriate steps were taken to protect the safety of everyone involved.
On Oct. 2, President Breaux convened virtually with Vice President for Student Affairs, Demetrius Johnson, and Chief of Police, Ernest Waiters, to discuss the incident, findings from the preliminary investigation and Bowie State University’s plan for moving forward during a Press Briefing.
