International Education Week Showcases Global Learning Across Campus

Bowie State University celebrated International Education Week 2025 from Nov. 17 - 21 with a campus-wide series of events that highlighted global learning and cultural exchange. The week invited students to explore new perspectives and understand how international experiences can strengthen academic and personal growth.
The Office of International Initiatives & Student Services led the celebration with support from Multicultural Programs & Civic Engagement, the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center, the College of Business and Bulldog Radio. Together they offered programs that sparked curiosity and expanded global awareness. The events encouraged students, faculty and staff to take part in conversations that connected Bowie State to the broader world.
Throughout the week, the campus community participated in discussions, information sessions, cultural activities and opportunities to meet peers from different regions. These gatherings included dialogue dinners, interactive presentations and student-led showcases that encouraged attendees to learn from one another and to consider how global engagement supports an inclusive environment.
Bowie State’s study abroad and international fellowship opportunities were highlighted in sessions that helped students understand how to prepare for education beyond national borders. Additional workshops addressed career readiness, immigration topics and mental wellness to support international students planning for life after graduation. Events such as International Game Day, the Dialogue Dinner and a student pop-up shop celebrated creativity, cultural identity and the entrepreneurial spirit within the community.
Bulldog Radio contributed to the week by featuring international music that reflected the backgrounds of Bowie State’s student body. The station also aired interviews with Office of International Education & Student Services Director Siriki Diabate and several students who discussed their global journeys and the importance of building cross-cultural understanding.
“International Education Week reminded us that learning is not limited to classrooms or even continents,” Diabate said. “It was about building connections, exploring ideas and preparing our students to succeed in a world where global awareness matters.”
By blending education with cultural experiences and community engagement, International Education Week strengthened Bowie State University’s commitment to preparing students to become globally aware leaders who can navigate an interconnected world.
