Mathematics Major
By studying math, you will become a critical thinker and acquire the high-demand skills that employers need. We offer specific areas of study, giving students the opportunity to get an early focus on their career goals. No matter which path you choose, this program will give you the skills to tackle any challenge with logic and precision. Undergraduates pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics choose one of three concentrations: Pure Mathematics, Applied and Computational Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
In Bowie State’s Department of Mathematics, you will receive thoughtful instruction in a robust curriculum that combines research, theory and computation. Additionally, our dedicated faculty lead small classes to provide the support you need to emerge as a leader in your chosen field after graduation. You will also:
- Identify patterns and use quantitative data to develop solutions.
- Apply new mathematical concepts, definitions and theorems.
- Explore the limits of pure reason and solve problems in various scientific fields.
