Course Sequencing
To earn the Master of Arts in Teaching, you must take the following five core courses (15 credit hours):
- EDUC 501: Learning and Teaching
- EDUC 507: Adv. Human Growth & Development
- EDUC 510: Tests and Measurements
- SPED 511: Special Education Perspectives
- EDUC 532: Classroom Practices and Procedures
- EDUC 543: Curriculum and Technology
Research Courses
You must also take a research course:
- EDUC 601: Research Methods and Skills
Reading Course Requirements
If you choose the elementary track, you’ll earn 12 credits in these four reading courses:
- EDUC 560: Processes and Acquisition
- EDUC 646: Diagnostic and Prescriptive Techniques of Reading
- EDUC 544: Principles and Techniques of Reading Instruction
- EDUC 633: Children’s Literature
The secondary track requires six credit hours of reading, or a total of two courses:
- SCED 748: Literacy in the Content Area I
- SCED 545: Literacy in the Content Area II
