Psi Chi: The National Honor Society in Psychology
Every undergraduate student who meets the following minimum qualifications for active student membership will be invited to apply to Psi Chi:
- Completion of at least three (3) semesters of college
- Completion of nine (9) semester hours of psychology
- Undergraduates who are elected to Psi Chi must demonstrate superior scholarship in psychology, earning a minimum GPA overall of 3.50 and a GPA in psychology courses of 3.00
- A declared major in psychology
- High standards of personal behavior
- Two-thirds affirmative vote of those present at a regular chapter meeting
Psi Chi Scholars Program:
PSI Chi members who still have at least one semester to complete before graduating may apply to the Psi Chi Scholars Program. Each Psi Chi scholar will complete an innovative research study under the mentorship of a psychology professor. If you are interested in applying, you should complete a proposal. Email Dr. Westerman for more information about the program and the proposal.
Following are some of the activities hosted by Psi Chi:
- GRE Prep Workshop
- Tutoring/mentoring/study groups for midterms (joint effort between Psi Chi and the Psychological Society)
- Community service project: Collecting toys, books, and clothes for a local organization and an orphanage in the Philippines
- Financial aid for graduate school workshop
- APA style writing workshop
- Induction ceremony for Psi Chi members and their families
