10/1/25, 3:22 p.m. - Campus Alert Update: All Clear – Thurgood Marshall Library

The Bowie State University Department of Public Safety (BSUPD), in coordination with the Prince George's County Police Department, Maryland State Police and FBI, has completed a thorough search of the Thurgood Marshall Library and surrounding area. The safety incident has been deemed not credible. An all clear has been issued by BSUPD, and the library is open for normal operations. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our Bowie State community safe.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to incorporate creative critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to engage in professionalcommunication via written or oral formats.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding and application of normative child development including stage models and sociological factors effectingchild development.
  3. Develop an appreciation, respect, and knowledge base of variations in development based on cultural, biological, environmental, orpsychological factors.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of atypical or abnormal child development including behavioral problems, therapeutic treatment, andlearning disorders.
  5. Develop a working knowledge base of current technology used in presenting work (ie., PowerPoint, computer literacy skills, and utilizingthe internet as a resource).
  6. Develop a knowledge base on the ethical practices and child welfare policies (including a knowledge of the administrative functions ofproviding child services).
  7. Analyze and utilize traditional and emerging methods of social research.
