Honors Admission Requirements

Prospective Honors students must first be admitted to Bowie State before completing the Honors Program application.

Students are encouraged to apply early, to be considered for this highly competitive, limited entry program. Students will receive an official notification from the university if they are selected to apply for the Honors Program.

Students who meet the following criteria will be considered for full scholarships:

Incoming Freshmen

• 3.5 GPA or higher
• Minimum 1200 SAT or 25 ACT score

Applicants can also be considered for admissions into the program without consideration for the full scholarship. Those students must meet the following criteria:

Transfer Honors Students

• 3.5 GPA or higher with a minimum of 15 college credits
• Documentation from current Honors Program
• Complete the Math Placement Test

Current Bowie State Students

• 3.5 GPA or higher
• Completed one fall and spring semester consecutively earning at least a 3.5 GPA
• BSU sophomores and juniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.5 can come to the Honors Program Suite to get an application to apply.
• Students must be highly recommended by at least two Bowie State University instructors.
