Health & Safety Exemption Requirement

The Wellness Center adheres to all requirements pertaining to the protection of student information under FERPA.  The Wellness Center staff are confidential employees.  However, there are a few exceptions to FERPA regulations under which the Wellness Center is permitted to disclose education records or personally identifiable information from medical records in connection with a health or safety emergency without student consent.

The situation must present an imminent danger to a student, other students or Bowie State University community in order to qualify as an exception.  This exception is taken very seriously and must clearly present an imminent danger or threat.
