BSU Maintains Vigilance in Fight Against Coronavirus

April 7, 2021

As outlined in the Spring Return to Campus plan, Bowie State University has successfully transitioned to remote instruction after Spring Break. Freshman students have returned home, and many upper class students will finish the academic year residing in the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community. Whether on campus or at home in your community, please continue to observe the safety precautions of mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing to keep our community safe from the virus.

COVID-19 Dashboard

As the state and region have reported recent spikes in the number of positive cases, the university has also seen an uptick, but our campus positivity rate remains below 2 percent. You can view Maryland COVID-19 data dashboard and Prince George’s County dashboard for the latest state and local data. Bowie State’s twice-weekly testing protocols for access to campus enable early identification and isolation of positive cases and quarantine of close contact to reduce the potential for spread.

COVID-19 Vaccine

All members of the BSU community are strongly encouraged to take the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. For the latest information on vaccine sites and eligibility, Maryland residents can visit the state’s vaccine locator webpage or vaccines.gov/search/. The Prince George’s County Health Department also offers appointments for people who work in the county.

Scientific data indicates that all three vaccines are effective in preventing serious illness from the virus. View this video to learn the facts from medical experts.
