Fall Planning Survey, Off-Campus Testing and Vaccine Update

March 3, 2021

There has been a robust response to the campus-wide survey seeking input from faculty, staff and students on experiences and perspectives to consider in planning for fall 2021. Anyone who has not yet completed the Fall Planning Survey is encouraged to do so before Friday, March 5 at 11:59 p.m. All responses are confidential and your input will help inform the important decisions ahead as we build on lessons learned over the past year. It should take about 10 minutes to complete the survey.

Reporting Off-Campus Testing

While the campus continues to offer twice-weekly COVID-19 testing, members of our community who test off-site are urged to report any positive results to Human Resources by email to covid-19results@bowiestate.edu. This enables the university to assure appropriate employee resources are provided, and an accurate accounting of the impact of the pandemic on the BSU community.

Vaccine Update

Today, President Breaux received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, joining other local leaders demonstrating her confidence in its safety and effectiveness in reducing the threat of serious illness from the disease. She strongly encourages all members of the BSU community to register for appointments and take the vaccine as soon as possible to protect yourselves and others.

The progress of widespread vaccination will significantly affect how quickly the state and nation can return to more normal operations. Persons working at higher education institutions are now eligible to receive the vaccine under Maryland’s Phase 1B and 1C distribution plan. Maryland residents can check the state vaccine locator webpage to find a vaccine site in your area and follow instructions to register. The Prince George’s County Health Department also offers appointments for people who work in the county.

The university remains in the queue to receive vaccine doses to administer to members of the campus community when the supply increases. Information will be provided when it becomes available.

We ask all members of the campus community to continue to monitor emails and the BSU COVID-19 Updates web section for the latest information. Any questions or concerns should be emailed to covid19@bowiestate.edu.
