BSU Reports First Case of Positive COVID-19 Test

Dear BSU Community,

We have learned this evening that a member of our campus community has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection. This commuter student has not been on the campus since March 11 and is under medical care at home. We are following our process of working with the Prince George’s County Health Department to identify members of our community who have been in contact with the individual, and provide the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery and well-being to the student and family.

We know this is a challenging time for everyone. We are intent on keeping you informed of the latest guidance from health officials and of any direct impacts on the BSU community. We encourage you to remain calm, maintain good hygiene, wash hands frequently, avoid touching the face and practice social distancing to avoid becoming ill or spreading the virus to others. If you become ill with symptoms of the virus – fever, cough or shortness of breath – please report it to your supervisor or the Wellness Center.

We will continue to communicate with the campus community as circumstances evolve. Please visit the Coronavirus Updates page for the latest information and resources. If you have questions please email covid19@bowiestate.edu.
