Coronavirus Update

Moving All Classes Online Through April 6, 2020

As Bowie State University continues to monitor developments to the coronavirus, we are taking steps to move all instruction to an online format, effective immediately after spring break on Monday, March 23.

Online instruction will continue for at least two weeks after spring break, and students will need to access reliable internet service during this time. To prepare for this transition, the university announced yesterday that classes will be cancelled Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13.

During this time, all students are encouraged to complete an orientation to Blackboard with an online training course, Student Orientation to Blackboard for Online Classes. You can access using the same username and password that you use to access Blackboard and your BSU email. If you have trouble accessing your Blackboard account, contact the Division of Information Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@bowiestate.edu or 301-860-HELP (4357).

Students should also download the free Blackboard App and the Blackboard Collaborate Mobile app for web conferencing, using the Google Play Store for Androids and the Apple App Store for iPhones.

As an additional support resource, the BSU Academic Computing staff, Dr. Fabio Chacon and Ms. Tolulope Oladipo, will provide direct support with a virtual room in Blackboard Collaborate ULTRA, which you can access once you log into Blackboard. The virtual room indicates its hours of operation during workdays. Please note the university will be closed Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 for spring break.

We appreciate your patience and understanding with the preparation process required to ensure that the university continues to provide classes during this difficult time.
