Free Testing Continues, Clearance Badge Introduced

COVID-19 testing for employees and commuter students with in-person classes will continue this week on Thursday, Sept. 17 and Friday, Sept. 18 from 9am to 1pm on the patio of the Martin Luther King Jr. Communication Arts Center. Employees do not need to schedule in advance. Commuter students are required to schedule appointments using the Wellness Center patient portal. Log in with your BSU email username and password.

Testing for residential students will resume Monday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the MLK patio from 9am to 3pm. Any residential student who missed testing last week must come for testing Monday or Tuesday. This includes students who self-quarantined at home after Labor Day.

Implementation of Clearance Badge System

Beginning Monday, students will have to show, on their phones, a green or yellow badge from the Wellness Center patient portal to gain entrance to campus and to some campus buildings. Reported test results will be used to activate a new color-coded COVID-19 Clearance Badge indicating their compliance with testing and daily screening practices.

The date-stamped Clearance Status Badge will indicate “Green” for cleared (negative COVID test in past 30 days and daily screening survey answered with no symptoms); “Yellow” for overdue items (COVID test outdated or daily screening survey was not performed); or “Red” for Not Cleared (the person has tested positive for COVID or has been exposed to COVID-19). This new system provides another layer of continuous monitoring in the university’s efforts to detect and prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the campus community.
