BSU Coronavirus Information Website Revamped

To help the Bowie State campus community to stay informed of the latest updates to procedures and protocols for managing the university’s response to COVID-19, a revamped Coronavirus Information website provides easier access to the most sought information. New prominent navigation buttons lead to vaccination, testing and health & safety pages where all relevant information is compiled. The periodic COVID-19 email updates are archived and easy links to the Wellness Portal are available. These pages will be updated as the campus may pivot to adjust to evolving guidance as the science and data advances. Please bookmark the Coronavirus Information page as your primary source for campus COVID-19 updates.

High Quality Masks Required on Campus

BSU has invested in providing high quality KN-95 masks for students, faculty and staff, and everyone should be wearing them in all indoor locations at this time. Masks can be picked up from the Thurgood Marshall Library circulation desk, Student Center ticket window, and Campus Safety office in McKeldin Gym. These high-quality masks provide better protection against spread of the virus than cloth or surgical masks.

What Does the Purple Badge Mean?

As new students and employees who are not fully compliant with the vaccination requirement have joined the university for the spring semester, they have encountered the purple badge when completing the daily survey. This indicates that they have not completed the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or received an exemption, so they are not permitted access to the campus. Anyone with a purple badge should contact the Wellness Center to check for badge malfunction or to update vaccination status, via phone at 301-860-4170 or email at hwwc@bowiestate.edu.

Please continue to monitor your email and the website for the latest updates. If you have questions, you may also email covid19@bowiestate.edu. Questions about academic issues should be sent to covid19academics@bowiestate.edu
