Coronavirus Update

December 7, 2022

Wherever you go, whatever you do, don’t take COVID with you.

We are well into fall and winter is quickly approaching.

There are THREE types of the Omicron variant in the US right now causing spikes in COVID cases.  COVID and the flu are causing increased strain on hospital services.  These new Omicron variants are easier to get than previous versions and even persons who have already contracted COVID are not immune.  COVID may be old news, but it is still making headlines.

This holiday season protect your loved ones and yourself by doing the following:

  • get vaccinated and boosted
  • wear a mask
  • use hand sanitizer
  • maintain a reasonable distance from others
  • test for COVID and upload positive results to the Wellness Portal.

Before leaving campus for winter break, be sure to pick up a box of rapid tests.  Use one before you leave and the other before coming back. Rapid take-home tests are available:

  • COVID Testing Center located in the Thurgood Marshall Library, room 1200, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Room 270 in the Thurgood Marshall Library from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Campus Safety office located in McKeldin Gym
  • Ticket booth in the Student Center

Vaccinations and bivalent boosters are available at the Wellness Center; call 301-860-4170 to make an appointment.
