Fall Semester Off to a Great Start

September 1, 2021

Monday’s return to in-person classes brought new life to the campus with students walking to class and filling the Student Center. The first days saw broad adoption of the requirements to mask-up indoors and to show the green badge for entrance to campus and various buildings on campus, including classrooms. It’s great to see wide-spread commitment to the practices designed to keep our campus safe.

Personalize Your Green Badge

For ease of identification, students must add a photo to your profile in the Wellness Patient Portal to display on your green badge.  The badge with photo can be used as identification on campus to gain entry to events, residence halls, and classes. Just follow these steps:

  • Log in to the Wellness Patient Portal
  • Open the menu on top left and select profile
  • Select edit profile picture
  • Upload your photo
  • Enjoy easier access to spaces and activities on campus

Student Vaccination Deadline Rapidly Approaching

Remember, all students must be fully vaccinated by Sept. 30 or place your enrollment and financial aid at risk. Only vaccinated students, or those with approved exemptions, are able to enter campus, attend classes, participate in events, including homecoming, and access any on-campus resources.

A two-week waiting period is required after the last shot to build up full immunity to be considered fully vaccinated. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine will enable you to be fully compliant in just 14 days. Bowie State has the Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines readily available by appointment or walk-in at the Wellness Center. These vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in preventing serious illness and death from COVID-19 so students are encouraged to act now to protect yourselves and rejoin the Bowie State community. Only students joining the institution after August 1 will be eligible for consideration for exemptions.

If you have any questions about the requirements for the return to campus, please email covid19@bowiestate.edu and monitor the COVID-19 Updates web section for the latest information.
