Reminder: Your Personal Protection Plan Is the Best Defense Against COVID-19

New variants of the COVID-19 virus are increasing numbers of positive cases across the state and nation. Members of the Bowie State campus community are reminded to stay diligent with your personal COVID health management. Listed below are some things to remember to limit your risk of infection.

Things to remember about COVID-19

  • While the vaccine is important to receive, it does not prevent you from contracting the virus. It can help lessen the severity of the symptoms.
  • COVID-19 is an airborne virus meaning it is transmissible through the air. Be aware of your personal space and try your best to maintain a safe distance of 6 feet to prevent walking through someone’s contaminated “air cloud.
  • We have learned that COVID-19 is not a single occurring illness and because antibodies diminish around 90 days following a positive test, it is possible to contract COVID-19 more than once.
  • The best defense to protect against contracting the virus is to wash your hands often and wear a mask (optional) if you suspect someone may be infectious.
  • Stay informed regarding your COVID status. Get tested, if you are symptomatic. Testing offered on campus.
