Comcast

Comcast does not offer hotspots.  However, they have taken a number of steps in response to the COVID-19 crisis that BSU students may be able to utilize for their connectivity needs.

Free Xfinity Wi-Fi for Everyone

Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots located in businesses and outdoor locations across the country are available to anyone who needs them for free – including non-Xfinity internet subscribers.

Support for University Students

Comcast offers eligible university students who live in our service area and who need internet service a $150 Visa prepaid card upon sign-up to help keep them connected. There are no upfront fees or installation costs, and it’s easy to purchase online and receive Home Drop Off delivery of equipment. Our contactless delivery approach includes door-step delivery of your self-install kit by one of our technicians who will complete any required outside work and leave detailed installation instructions for you.

Confirm eligibility and sign up here. This offer is available through June 1 to college students who live in households in our service area that are not already Xfinity customers.

Internet Essentials

On March 16, Comcast introduced two substantial enhancements to Internet Essentials, the nation's largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program for low-income Americans.

  1. We are making it even easier for low-income individuals and families who live in a Comcast service area to sign up by offering new customers 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service, which is normally available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month.
  2. We increased Internet speeds for the Internet Essentials service from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all new and existing customers, which will be the speed of the service going forward. In this way, we will ensure that Internet Essentials customers will be able to use their Internet service for all their increased needs as a result of this health crisis.
  3. New customers can apply here. The accessible website also includes the option to video chat with customer service agents in American Sign Language. For additional assistance, chat with us any time through the Xfinity Assistant.
