 The Division of Marketing & Communications at Bowie State University leads the strategic promotion of the university’s brand, messaging and events to elevate its visibility, community engagement and reputation as a leader in higher education.

We support the university’s mission by building meaningful connections with internal and external audiences, showcasing the excellence of Bowie State’s community, programs and partnerships and creating memorable experiences that reflect the vibrancy of our campus community. 

Through the division’s Office of Marketing & Communications and Conference & Event Services, our work spans brand strategy, media relations, social media, digital and print content, event planning and more — ensuring that the Bowie State message is consistent, impactful and inspiring across all platforms.

Office of Marketing & Communications 

The Office of Marketing & Communications (MarCom) leads the strategic direction for Bowie State University’s brand and reputation. Through a comprehensive approach to marketing, public relations, social media, website management and internal communications, MarCom tells the story of BSU’s innovation, excellence and impact. The team partners with departments across campus to develop integrated marketing and communications strategies, promote key initiatives and ensure alignment with the university’s brand identity. From media relations and graphic design to email campaigns and photography, MarCom is the central resource for promoting the university’s mission, achievements and identity to internal and external audiences.

Conference & Event Services

Conference & Event Services (CES) manages and supports campus-wide events that reflect Bowie State University’s dynamic spirit and professional standards. CES provides expert event planning, logistical support and facility coordination for a range of internal and external events — from signature university events and community gatherings to academic conferences and student programming. The team also serves as a point of contact for organizations looking to host events on campus, offering guidance on venue selection, event setup and compliance with university policies. CES ensures every event, large or small, is executed with excellence and aligned with the university’s mission and reputation.

Division Leadership

 The Division of Marketing & Communications is led by Vice President for Marketing & Communications Sabrina Ram. In her role, Ram oversees the division’s efforts to elevate and protect Bowie State University’s brand and reputation, amplifying its value proposition to internal and external audiences through the organization’s paid, earned, owned and shared communications channels.

By unifying the Office of Marketing & Communications and Conference & Event Services, the division is strategically positioned to enhance communication, streamline collaboration, and deliver cohesive strategies and insights that support recruitment, retention, and revenue-generation goals.

With more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and marketing, Ram brings a proven track record of crafting impactful narratives, building strong institutional brands and engaging diverse audiences across higher education, corporate and nonprofit sectors. Her leadership is focused on aligning marketing, communications and events with the university’s mission, fostering community pride and positioning Bowie State as national leader in higher education, research and community engagement.
