Sunday, April 8

Pre-Inaugural Gospel Concert

4:30 p.m.  | Martin Luther King Jr. Communication Arts Center, Myers AuditoriumEnjoy performances by Patrick Lundy & the Ministers of Music, with Stellar Award winner and BSU alumnus Phillip Carter & the Sounds of Victory, the Largo and Oxon Hill High school choirs, and the Bowie State University Gospel Choir. The concert, hosted by WHUR's Jacquie Gales Webb, will support the Bowie State University arts programs. Cost: $25 (excluding service fee)$10 for BSU students with ID card (student discount tickets available at the Bowie Card office in the Student Center)

Monday, April 9

Bowie State in the Community

9:00 a.m.Students and faculty join President Breaux at Whitehall Elementary and Bowie High schools to thank community partners and invite them to join the Race to Excellence.

Environmental Stewardship Event

1:00 p.m.Faculty, staff and students will collaborate with the City of Bowie to help clean a wooded and stream/swale areas by picking up trash and litter. This project will help protect Bowie’s streams, the Patuxent River and even the Chesapeake Bay.

Excellence Matters: An Artistic Experience

5:00 - 7:30 p.m. (New Time) | Student Center, Pub BSU students showcase their talents in an open mic exhibition of creative expression portraying what academic excellence means to them.Cost: Free

153rd Founders Day: Evolution of Leadership

10:00 a.m. | Martin Luther King Jr. Communication Arts Center, Myers AuditoriumJoin BSU students as they reflect on the evolution of the university's leadership to our first woman president. Yohance Maqubela, son of activist Dick Gregory, is the guest speaker. Maqubela is a seasoned professional in educational administration and business management. He serves as the managing director of a Washington, DC-based firm that assists schools and nonprofits with building capacity through operations and fiscal management.Cost: Free

Inaugural Dance Concert

7:00 p.m. | Fine and Performing Arts Center, Recital HallIn partnership with the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, Bowie State will pay tribute to President Breaux with a special dance concert featuring performances by students from BSU, the Paula Brown Performing Arts Center and Center for Visual and Performing Arts at Suitland High School. World-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison will lead a master class and critique for dancers ahead of their performance. She will also provide opening remarks at the concert.Cost: This event is sold out. No additional tickets will be issued.

Installation Ceremony

11:00 a.m. | Leonidas S. James Physical Education ComplexDr. Breaux is officially installed as the 10th president of Bowie State University, followed by a campus-wide reception.

Racing to Excellence Scholarship Gala

7:00 p.m. | Camelot by Martin’s, 13901 Central Avenue, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774Wrap up Inauguration Week with a black-tie gala, with dinner, dancing and entertainment to benefit the Racing to Excellence Endowed Scholarship. R&B and funk legends, The S.O.S. Band, will perform.Costs:
