Ronald Lipford

Mr. Lipford has over 30 years of experience in Architecture. He possesses a great deal of experience in all levels of responsibility to include programming, design and technical coordination, construction document preparation and delivering construction management services. Since 1991 (24years) as the Principal and CEO, Mr. Lipford bears the overall responsibility for the strategic successful delivery of all professional architectural/engineering services delivered by Arel Architects, Inc. He organizes and manages a myriad of architects/engineers, administrative and marketing staff. The client base that he has developed presents a unique balance (private, local and federal government, faith based, corporate, institutional, and medical). He is also responsible for long and short term planning while maintaining solid working relationships with vendors and the many consultants Arel selects on applicable projects. Licensed to practice in as many as eight (8) states, Mr Lipford continues to successfully execute commissions with agencies such as: the U.S. SBA, Prince George’s and Montgomery County Governments, the Maryland Department of Transportation, Baltimore City, Washington Sanitary and Sewer Commission (WSSC) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).

Educationally, Mr. Lipford earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Hampton University in, Hampton VA; a post graduate certificate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, Boston, MA; and a certificate in Construction Management from Howard University, Washington, DC.

Professionally, Mr. Lipford is NCARB certified, and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and Potomac Valley Chapter AIA (Maryland’s local chapter).

Mr. Lipford has developed a reputation of providing quality service while building solid working relationships which contribute to the high percentage of referred business and repeat clients. Strategic A/E teaming partners include: HOK Architects, Leo Daly Architects, Bernard Tschume Architects and Page Southerland Page. Select public and corporate clients include: Prince Georges County, Baltimore City, General Service Administration, Prince George’s Hospital, Providence Hospital, McDonald’s Corp, Shell Oil Company, and most recent MGM Resorts/Casino at National Harbor.

He has served as the Architectural Commissioner of the Prince George’s County Historic Preservation Commission, served as board officer of the Prince George’s Board of Trade and is a founding member of the Prince George’s Black Chamber of Commerce.
