Alumna Establishes Endowment to Support Upper-Class Students

Anshia B. Crooms ’05, CEO and founder of Briclyn Entertainment Group, LLC, has established the Briclyn Entertainment Endowment, a needs-based scholarship designed to support Bowie State University students majoring in communications, fine & performing arts, or business administration. The endowment is specifically designated for juniors and seniors, addressing a critical funding gap for students nearing graduation.
A proud graduate of Bowie State University, Crooms earned her bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism in 2005 before completing a master’s degree in media studies and film at The New School. Crooms enjoyed a milestone year in 2025, celebrating her 20th year as a Bowie State graduate and being recognized as the university's Distinguished Alumna of the Year during Winter Commencement on Friday, Dec. 19.
With more than 20 years of experience in the music and entertainment industry, Crooms leads Briclyn Entertainment Group, LLC, a boutique booking and event programming agency. Her work spans artist booking, festival production, hybrid programming, and contract negotiation, with clients appearing at legendary venues and festivals both domestically and internationally.
Beyond her professional achievements, Crooms has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to service and philanthropy. She is the co-founder of Project Hygiene, Inc., a nonprofit organization that supports underprivileged youth by promoting health and wellness while denouncing bullying. In November 2025, Project Hygiene partnered with Bowie State’s Nutritional Lounge to provide essential items to students facing food and hygiene insecurity.
“A lot of times, we forget that upperclassmen still need money to persist to graduation, and I wanted to fill that gap,” said Crooms. “Home is where the heart is, and home to me is BSU. That was my motivation to create the Briclyn Entertainment Endowment.”
Crooms is also deeply engaged in leadership within the arts and music industry. She serves as a 2024–2026 Governor for the DC Chapter of the Recording Academy and co-chairs its Music Business Committee. In addition, she is a board member of Creative Nomad, LTD, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
“I believe in legacy giving and serving others, but most importantly, I care about my alma mater,” Crooms said. “I believe in the university’s mission and vision, and I am forever grateful to Bowie State because the institution gave me a chance.”
Through the Briclyn Entertainment Endowment, Crooms continues to invest in the success of Bowie State students — ensuring that future Bulldogs have the support they need to persist, graduate, and lead with purpose.
