Bowie State University Closed on Jan. 26 Due to Inclement Weather

Due to inclement weather, Bowie State University will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. All classes, office operations and on-campus activities are canceled. Residence halls will remain open.  Communications Major

Program Requirements

To earn a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism, emerging media, print journalism or public relations, students must successfully complete 120 semester hours, including 12-15 hours in core communications course and 47 hours in electives. Majors must earn a grade of “C” or better in all required communications courses, as well as all courses in the student’s chosen concentration. Students who wish to earn a BA degree are required to complete 12 semester hours in a foreign language in addition to other requirements.
