Department of Management, Marketing & Public Administration

JP Morgan Chase

We invest a lot of time, care and resources into our global internship programs. To us, the programs represent nothing less than our long-term success. They provide an opportunity for you to find out about us, and vice versa.

J.P. Morgan's summer internships are in demand for many compelling reasons – here are just three. First, you will work with smart and energetic professionals on real, challenging projects at one of the world's top financial services firm. Second, you will have the chance to discover first-hand what areas of our business best suit your talents and interests. Third, and this is the big one, we hire a majority of our full-time Analysts from the Summer Intern Analyst class.

Our internship program starts with the best training on the Street, with continued training throughout the summer. We give you opportunities to take on important responsibilities on the job, and help you build your professional network with your peers and senior management at special events for Summer Analysts throughout the summer.

Our recruiting process

We typically begin the formal recruiting for Summer Analysts in November. But we are on campus all year round and encourage you to get to know us early, starting in September. We schedule on-campus events that introduce you to our programs across our lines of business. You will get to know J.P. Morgan's culture, our ambitions for you and what you can expect from your summer internship experience.

You can submit your application and résumé by the specified deadline, which varies by school. (Learn more about our application process). We select top candidates to interview after reviewing résumés and applications. Then students are notified about whether or not they've been admitted to the internship program. The entire process is usually completed by the end of February, and the program begins in June.

We also offer pre-internship programs to give you the insight you need to start thinking about a career at J.P. Morgan.

What we look for

The work is fast paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for candidates with excellent quantitative, analytical and communication skills. You must have the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines, and have the aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative solutions. You should also be adaptable, able to manage projects independently and ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team. A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance or economics is recommended. Candidates must demonstrate academic strength – a minimum 3.2 GPA for juniors and a minimum 3.5 GPA for freshmen and sophomores, strong teamwork, communication skills and a high energy level.

An aptitude for numbers is a must, even if you're not a business major. If you don't have a strong financial or business background, be sure you can tell your story; be able to demonstrate your quantitative aptitude, both scholastically and practically (former jobs, for example) and be ready to articulate how your background will enhance your career at J.P. Morgan. You can find out more tips in our Advice Center.

Our summer internship programs are primarily for current juniors, but we also offer summer internships to select freshmen and sophomores.

J.P. Morgan internship experience

Our philosophy is this: if you're good enough to succeed in our application process, then you're good enough to assume real responsibility on the job. Could there be a better way of meeting your future colleagues than working next to them on a deal? You can count on them to show you around and show you the ropes. After all, they recognize potential when they meet it.

An internship should be like a dialogue: your chance to talk to us, and our chance to talk to you. And it's not just about the work. The social side of things has always been important to us, and through organized events and relationships you forge yourself, you'll be able to build a vital network of colleagues, mentors and friends for the future.

Internships are vital for us to meet our future leaders — and the majority of people who come and work with us during the summer end up working with us full-time. An internship with us will be a short, intense, possibly exhausting, certainly enjoyable and completely memorable experience. Find out for yourself and apply.
