Dr. Alex J. Anderson has a bachelor's degree in sport administration and coaching minor from Lock Haven University, master's in education from Saint Francis University (PA), and a doctorate in Sport management from Concordia University of Chicago. Dr. Anderson started his career in the scouting department of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. From there, Dr. Anderson began his 21-year career in college athletics. He served as an assistant football coach for 12 years at the NCAA Division I and NCAA Division III levels. He coached three seasons at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, and nine years at Saint Francis University (PA). Anderson coached multiple positions and while at Saint Francis University, he also served as travel coordinator, equipment supervisor, and oversaw team budget. Prior to his current role at Bowie State University, Anderson served as an Assistant Athletic Director at Saint Francis University (PA). While his primary responsibilities focused on facilities, event operations, gameday operations, he also served as the Advisor for the Black Student Union club, assisted in student-athlete advising, and fundraising efforts.
Emerald B. Fulmore, Ed. D

Dr. Fulmore is a native of Lumberton, NC, earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership from Bowie State University on May 21, 2021, after successfully defending her dissertation entitled “A Seat at the Athletic Administration Leadership Table: Collective Narratives from African American Women Who Beat the Odds.”
Dr. Fulmore also earned a Master of Business Administration from Morgan State University in 2009, and Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a concentration in Business Administration from Winston-Salem State University in 2004. Dr. Fulmore is currently a Supervisory Assistant Career Manager with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Prior to joining FEMA, Dr. Fulmore served as the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance for Bowie State University Department of Athletics in addition to serving as Adjunct Faculty for the College of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Fulmore had over 16 years of athletic administrative experience and served on numerous University and NCAA committees. Dr. Fulmore is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
Adem Kaya, PhD

Adem Kaya works as Assistant Professor in Sport Management Department at Bowie State University, Maryland, USA. Previously, he taught in Physical Education Department at State University of New York at Cortland, New York for two years. Prior to teaching at higher education, he worked in Public Schools and handled different responsibilities including athletic director, health and physical education teacher, and head wrestling and soccer coach for several years
Before working in public schools, he worked at a Fortune 500 company as a sports event marketing manager, which entailed organizing many sports and marketing events for NASCAR and for the NCAA, as well as working in sales and marketing in different industries. Prior to working in corporate business, he worked as an assistant wrestling coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania for several years. Before coaching career in the United States, he served on the Turkish National wrestling team over a decade and won several international recognitions, including a gold medal at the Junior World Championship, a silver medal at the World Cup, and a silver medal at the University World Championship, and many top three places at other international tournaments.
His research interests include youth leadership development through sports participation immigrant and refugee communities, traditional sports and games (TSG), and organizational leadership in sports industry. He is actively involved in the Turkish-American community in The United States and serves as a volunteer to help new immigrants and refugees settle in the United States.

My life experiences, commitment to student success, campus and departmental administration knowledge, collaboration, and academic excellence are on both sides of athletics and academics. I believe my educational background which includes, Doctor of Education (Ed.D), Sport Management, Master of Arts (M.A,), Higher Education and both Master’s and Undergraduate Degrees in Divinity, exhibits my dedication to the success of all students in higher education. I possess a strong understanding of student success strategies, along with a proven track record of increasing student achievement and development, decision-making, data analysis and management skills. My skills coupled with the future completion of my JD at Trinity Law would afford me, as a Professor of Sport and Law will serve effectively in the areas of legal aspects of sports and representation here at Bowie State University. As an Associate Professor of Sport Management with an emphasis in Sport Law, Social, Economic, Religion and Intercollegiate Issues in Sport has prompted allowed me to effectively contribute to the Sport industry. Mostly these research interests have provided me with the opportunity to draw connections between these different areas and communicate difficult concepts mostly to design, communicate, and implement regulations, codes, policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to department and student success.
My career in academia includes over ten years as a university Professor of Sport Management (tenured), nine years as an Online Professor of Sport Management, Department Chair, Academic Advisor, MAT Program Coordinator, Secondary Education Program Coordinator, Sport Management Program Coordinator, Bowie State University Football Chaplain, and Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR). All my accomplishments have allowed me to gain valuable experiences leading and collaborating with university faculty, athletic and academic administration, coaches and student-athletes. My role as Department Chair, Program Coordinator and Faculty Athletic Representative has afforded me specifically the opportunity to work closely with the entire division of student affairs and collegially with various administrative offices under the office of academic affairs services and enrolment management.
