Jan. 28-30 Virtual Operations, Campus Remains Closed

Bowie State University will continue with virtual operations for all classes and office operations through Friday, January 30, 2026. The campus will be closed to all non-essential personnel, and all campus activities are canceled. All buildings except residence halls and the dining hall will be closed. Essential personnel should report on time. This is due to the extended time required to clear the extensive snow and ice accumulation on campus. University crews are making every effort to resume campus operations, as a safe return to in-person learning and work remains our top priority. Only essential personnel and residential students are permitted access to the campus through Jan. 30. For more information, please visit BowieState.edu/weather.

Grants & Research Testimonials

Meet some of our scholarship recipients working in special education.

 J’adore Dior Jumper

ECDI Undergraduate Program

"I offer a versatile and adaptable approach to special education; I tailored my interactions and explanations to the individual’s learning style. I also possess a vast repository of information and strategies that can assist educators and caregivers in creating effective and engaging learning experiences for students with diverse needs."

 Diedra Smalls-Screws

INCREASE Doctoral Program

"Never allow yourself to be a ‘non-believer’ in students when they can all succeed. It has been an honor and a privilege to be a recipient of the Project INCREASE scholarship. The pleasure has truly come for me to being with my cohort family in which we share a bond that will never be broken."

 Carlos Johnson

CREDIBLE Doctoral Program

"I've worked in the trenches of urban and suburban settings as an educator, advocate, mentor, and parent in special education for the past 30 years. It gives me great honor and privilege to represent the Project CREDIBLE cohort. We function as a family, working to learn each other's attributes, best practices, strategies, and interventions needed to aid and support all students with disabilities."
