The Bowie State University Department of Psychology has entered a historic partnership with the publishing arm of the American Psychological Association (APA), the nation’s largest scientific and professional organization of psychologists, to promote diversity and inclusion in research by highlighting the work of BSU’s student researchers.
The APA is featuring BSU student researchers on its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion website to amplify the voices and work of Bowie State’s student scholars and researchers. APA Publishing has launched a new series, the Spotlight on Students Researchers of Color, with a focus on students and recent graduates from Bowie State and other historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The series will highlight their recent research projects, share their reasons for pursuing careers in psychology and discuss their future career and research plans.
Bowie State University and APA Publishing will also host interactive “How to Publish” webinars for BSU psychology students. The webinars will feature talks from APA journal editors, published authors and BSU psychology faculty on tips and tricks for navigating the peer review and publishing process, and will offer students the opportunity to hear from and engage with psychologists in journal leadership roles.
