Understanding Class Drops
Effective Summer 2025, Bowie State University has resumed pre-COVID business practices for tuition and fee payments. During the pandemic, we temporarily relaxed these policies to support students and families — but we are now returning to standard procedures.
If your classes are dropped after the add/drop deadline, you’ll need to wait until the next term (mini-term or semester) to re-enroll. Contact your academic advisor or department chair immediately to explore available options (in-person or online).
To stay enrolled in your courses, your bill must be fully covered by the billing due date for each term. This can be done through:
- Direct payment (Cash, check and/or 3rd party billing)
- Enrolling in a payment plan
- Financial aid (Scholarship, grants and/or loans)
Here are a few examples of reasons for class drops
- You have an outstanding balance and are not enrolled in a payment plan
- Your financial aid doesn’t fully cover your bill
- Your financial aid application is incomplete
