• Green energy. A campus-based solar panel system generates nearly 20% of the university’s power.
• Green buildings. BSU is a leader in green building design, with the Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Nursing (LEED Platinum), Student Center (LEED Gold) and Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community (LEED Gold).

• Developing real-world solutions. Computer science and technology students work on cyber challenges with expert faculty and industry partners.
• Data Science and Analytics: An interdisciplinary approach to infusing data science and analytics into undergraduate curriculums equips students to excel in the data-driven global economy.
• Course-based research. Undergraduate natural sciences students who choose a research track work with faculty mentors to find breakthroughs in health and medicine.
• Professional broadcasting experience. Streaming worldwide, WBSU Radio provides students with experience in radio production and digital technology.
• Closing teacher workforce gaps. By partnering with local school districts, the College of Education has launched initiatives to prepare more students to become certified educators.

• The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center is an integral part of the Bowie State experience — connecting students across various fields of study in a facility designed to inspire collaboration and interaction. 
• The Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community, home to 550+ students, is infused with opportunities to develop business aspirations in specialized spaces with the latest technology.
• The Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics & Nursing, features a greenhouse, nursing simulation labs, research and instructional labs, and active learning classrooms to provide student with opportunities for hands-on learning.
• The Fine & Performing Arts Center, includes four professional performance venues, a fashion studio, digital design and stop-motion animation labs, a recording studio and an art gallery enabling students to express and share their creative vision.
• The Computer Science Building, with a 3D virtual reality lab, can be used for simulations that aid homeland security preparedness, and a makerspace with 3D printers for students to create solutions with state-of-the-art technology.
• The James E. Proctor Jr. Building, with a forensic laboratory, is equipped with the latest crime-scene investigation tools and an e-sports gaming studio supporting intramural and athletic conference teams.

Undergraduate concentration and certificate programs offer academic credentials that prepare students to create new businesses and innovate in the workplace.
