Tasks:
- Implementation of “Please Don’t Take A Bag Program”
- Offer reusable bags for purchase
- Use recyclable and biodegradable bags
- Enhance the marketing of the buyback book program
- Increase digital book options
- Increase eco-friendly gift and clothing items
- Collaborate with Procurement Services to provide electronic battery drop off in Bookstore
Measure of success:
- Decrease plastic bag usage by 5% in year one and 10% in year 2
- Number of students participating in the buyback program increased by 3% year one and 5% year two
- Digital book options increased by 3% year one and 5% year two
- A minimum of 10 eco-friendly gift and clothing items offered at the bookstore annually
- Electronic battery drop off station in bookstore

- Decrease in amount of landfill waste from BSU over time
- Increase in amount of recycable items

- Take recommendations from task force on recycle bins for rooms and in common areas
- Purchase recycle bins for residence halls
- Renegotiate ABM contract in residence halls to allow for increase in bin collection and proper hauling

- Number of recycle bins in residence halls

- Identify locations for collection points and persons responsible for collection
- Purchase collection bins (if necessary)
- Set up a location in the residence halls and academic buildings to collect unwanted books for recycling.
Measure of success: 50% increase in recycled books after 2 years

Tasks:
- Research and review similar programs at other institutions
- Create student based team to design and coordinate program
- Establish general rules, list of items and come up with incentives, design t-shirts, etc. for the team
- Contact local agencies such as Goodwill and Best Buy to team with for disposal of clothing and e-cycled items
- Create flyers and social media buzz of items that can be donated during move-out
- Coordinate with Facilities Management on storage of items

- Number of items donated
- Number of students who participate in 1) donation, and 2) receiving items
