Admissions Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better (on a 4.0 point scale). 

To apply:

• Complete the BSU Graduate School application
• Submit an official copy of your undergraduate transcript 
• Pay the application fee 

The Computer Science Graduate Admissions Committee will evaluate your application to ensure you meet departmental criteria, including completion of the following courses in mathematics and computer science:

• Calculus of one variable (i.e., Calculus I and II)
• One additional mathematics course beyond calculus (e.g., Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Advanced Calculus, Discrete Structures, Probability and Statistics)
• COSC 503-Software Design and Development (or equivalent)

Those who don’t have the required mathematics and/or computer science background may be granted provisional admission, after completing prerequisite requirements within the first four semesters. Prerequisite courses are additional and not included in the graduate program.

If you have not taken the prerequisite computer science course (i.e., COSC 503), but have knowledge of the content through work experience or self-study, you may request a waiver, provided you take and pass a departmental examination for that course.
