Scholars Present Their Summer Internship Achievements

This year, ExLENT scholars went from meeting their internship partners for the first time to standing beside their own research posters, explaining what they built over the summer. Here's a look at how that journey unfolded.
Scholars Present Their Summer Internship Achievements
On Friday, September 11, 2026, MLK 1330 was full of posters, questions, and proud faces as the ExLENT Program hosted its Fall Kickoff and Internship Poster Showcase at Bowie State University. Scholars were joined by the Provost and university leadership, faculty and staff, industry partners, mentors, and students from across the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
Each scholar shared the story of their internship: the real-world problem they set out to solve, the tools and methods they used, the challenges they ran into, and what came of their work. The range was impressive, with projects in artificial intelligence, AI agents, software development, data analytics, cloud computing, intelligent automation, enterprise applications, and data governance.
A panel of faculty judges from the department moved from poster to poster, asking scholars about their experiences, their technical contributions, and the outcomes of their projects. Three presentations were recognized:
- First Place: Ayomide Aisida
- Second Place: Praise Ben
- Third Place: Darryl Lomax and Arriana Clayton
The afternoon was about more than the awards. Students from across the department had the chance to learn from their peers, talk with faculty and industry professionals, and see what internship and experiential learning opportunities could look like for them. Industry partners, who supported the scholars through internships, mentorship, professional development, and real-world projects, were there to celebrate alongside the university community.
The Department of Computer Science and Technology congratulates every scholar and showcase participant, and thanks the Provost and university leadership, faculty judges, faculty and staff, industry partners, mentors, and students who helped make the day a success.
