SFS Scholars Cohort 2

The Scholarship for Service (SFS) program at Bowie State University, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), proudly introduced its second cohort of scholars. This prestigious program prepared students for careers in cybersecurity by providing financial support, mentorship, and opportunities for cutting-edge research. Faculty mentors Dr. Jie Yan, Dr. Avijoy Chakma, Dr. Sarker Kamruzzaman, and Dr. Vivek Mayura Shandilya guided students through innovative projects in image forensics, scalable machine learning, malware detection, and attack identification. SFS scholars also participated in paid internships with government agencies, gaining hands-on experience and skills to address critical cybersecurity challenges and contribute to national security.

SFS Cohort II

Haley Baley

Haley Baley is a seasoned IT professional, with cybersecurity training with advanced comprehensive training in back-end security, threats, and a background in hardware configurations, with a passion for cybersecurity.

DarrylDarryl Lomax

He is a Cybersecurity-focused Computer Science student currently a junior at Bowie State University, dedicated to expanding his expertise in the field. His efforts include earning cybersecurity badges and working on various related projects. He has experience coding in Java and has completed projects such as a medical system using the language. Highly adaptable and trainable, he is eligible for clearance up to the level of Top Secret. Driven by a passion for cybersecurity, he is committed to enhancing his skills and knowledge to make meaningful contributions to advancing the field.

Isha RennerIsha Renner is a driven college student, who is passionate about integrating her academic pursuits in computer science with her interest in cybersecurity. Isha has excelled in both coursework and hands-on internships, including participating in the NSA's Hacking 4 Intelligence program. Additionally, being a member of the Honors Program underscores her commitment to academic excellence. Outside of academics, she enjoys video editing, skateboarding, and soccer. Isha looks forward to contributing to innovative solutions in cybersecurity.

 

TarronTarron Montgomery

He is a cybersecurity-focused Computer Science student with a passion for hacking and technology that began at a young age. By 12, he was exploring Linux tools like Metasploit and Bettercap, gaining early experience in network attacks. His skills advanced through programs like the Patriot's Technology Training Center, where he learned Python and created hacking tools such as port scanners and remote access trojans. Currently, he is deepening his expertise in malware engineering, red team operations, and evasion techniques through advanced courses like Sektor7 and the Malware-Dev Academy. He actively works on personal projects, pursues certifications, and contributes to the cyber club through technical papers and mentorship. 

Totorian HugginsTitorian Huggins is currently a Junior at Bowie State University majoring in Computer Science. After being accepted into the prestigious SFS Scholar program, Titorian’s focus have shifted toward Cybersecurity. He is honored to have this opportunity, and he is eager to collaborate with and learn from new colleagues. Titorian looks forward to contributing his skills to the program and achieving success as an SFS Scholar.
