Professor Michelle Washington (aka Prof. M.!) was born in Panama City Florida. Washington received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the District of Columbia (an HBCU) Magna Cum Laude, with a specialization in Theatre Production. She holds a Masters’ Degree from the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park, in Theatre Theory, History, and Performance. She also holds Masters Certifications in Women’s Studies (UMD) and Theatre Management (American University). With over 20 years in Theatre (Art and Teaching), Washington has taught at such venerable institutions as France's L'Universite de La Sorbonne (Lecturer) and the Philippines' "Berkeley" the University of the Philippines at Dilliman (Senior Visiting Lecturer). Washington currently teaches at Bowie State University (in Bowie, MD) and has taught such classes as: Freshman Seminar; Senior Seminar; Introduction to Theatre; Acting for Non-Majors; History of Theatre; and African American Theatre History. Washington is President and Founder of MMQ Theatre and Events Group, inc., a nonprofit 501c3 multicultural arts for charity organization. Last year (2022), MMQ and Washington won small grants from the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities. With some of the monies, Washington, with research partners presented, at the National Communications Association (NCA) Conference in New Orleans, their research on Anti-Racism, Teaching, and Performance, which was well received. This year (2023), Washington with MMQ is excited to produce a Salon, like those of old lead by Georgia Douglas Johnson and her S Street Salons (1930-40s), with theatre and film. In keeping with MMQ's mission, the intent is to share the proceeds to support homeless women and children in the WashingtonDC area and nuture social change.
