Chemistry Major

What You'll Learn

Through a combination of lectures and inquiry-based laboratory activities, students study foundational areas required for forensics, pre-pharmacy and computational chemistry. Cutting-edge research and instructional labs in the Center for Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Nursing provide the resources students need to prepare for success.

As a chemistry major, you will:

  • Explore major concepts and theoretical principles in organic, inorganic, analytical and physical
  • Master scientific research techniques by conducting experiments, analyzing data, interpreting results and employing safe laboratory practices.
  • Evaluate scientific information using state-of-the-art equipment including, but not limited to a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, X-ray diffraction system and biochemical instrumentation.
