Build Your Knowledge
Interested in embarking on a cybersecurity career? Explore these majors and discover which program will lay the foundation for your future.
- Computer Science Major: You will learn about computer programming, mathematical foundations, database management and data mining. Online option available.
- Computer Technology Major: You will learn about tech theory and application, how to analyze and solve real-world problems through principles of hardware and software, and how to build and test business application tools. Online option available.
- Cyber Operations Engineering Major: This major combines math, computer science, electrical engineering and cyber operations concepts to help you build your expertise in multiple areas of the cyber defense field. You will learn about offensive and defensive cyber operations, embedded systems, network security and threat reduction and the anatomy of a cyber attack.

Join the Cyber Club
Our student Cyber Club competes at all levels, from local to national competitions, putting classroom skills to the test in real-world cyber challenges. Activities include preparation for the National Cyber League (NCL) all gaming season, tutorial workshops, field trips; hackathon prep and participation; and other types of events. All Department of Computer Science and Department of Technology and Security students are invited to become members of this fast-growing club.
Center for Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies

The Center for Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies at Bowie State provides educational, research and training opportunities in network and information security to students and faculty. Because of our demonstrated excellence and national leadership in cybersecurity, the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security have designated Bowie State University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education since 2009.
