What is the application fee?

The application fee for master's level programs is $40. The fee for the doctoral level programs is $50.

What is the application deadline?

  • Fall Semester and Summer Session - June 1
    All documents must be submitted by June 30. School Psychology application and all documents must be submitted by April 1.
  • Spring Semester - November 1
    All documents must be in by November 1.

What graduate admissions tests are required?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The PRAXIS I is required for admissions to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT). The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for the Doctor in Educational Leadership program. No other graduate program requires an admissions examination.

When are classes scheduled?

Graduate classes are scheduled for the evenings and the weekends. Most classes are scheduled Monday-Friday at either 4:55 p.m. or 7:35 p.m. and meet once a week. Off-campus, most classes meet once a week for 5 hours from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. for eight weeks during the regular semester.

Is Bowie State University fully accredited?

Bowie State University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Most academic programs have full accreditation through their departmental accrediting associations as well.

Can I transfer in courses taken at another institution?

Up to 12 credits can be transferred into the Master of Education programs, Counseling Psychology, and Human Resource Development. No more than six credits can be transferred into all other programs. The courses have to be:

  1. Taken at a regionally accredited institution
  2. Must meet or match the requirements of the program in which you intend to enroll
  3. Cannot have been used to satisfy the requirements of an earned degree

Are programs or courses offered off-campus?

Bowie State University offers programs and courses off-campus in Montgomery, Anne Arundel, and Charles counties.

Where is Bowie State University located?

Bowie State University is centrally located in Bowie, MD, between Washington, D.C. (the nation's capital), Annapolis, MD (the state capital), and Baltimore, MD (the largest city in the state). The campus is easily accessible by car off Route 197 from the Baltimore-Washington Parkway or Route 50, by MARC train from Union Station in Washington, DC or Penn Station in Baltimore, by Metrobus from the New Carrollton subway station, and by plane from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), Ronald Reagan National Airport, or Dulles International Airport.
