Public Records Request

Maryland’s Public Information Act (“MPIA”), codified in the Annotated Code, General Provisions Article, §§4-101 through 4-601, gives the public the right to review and obtain copies of releasable Bowie State University records by submitting a request to the university.

Proactive Disclosure of Records

In accordance with Section 4-104 of the MPIA, Bowie State University has adopted a policy of proactive disclosure of records that are available to the public for immediate inspection without the need to submit a public information request. In addition, numerous documents are available throughout the www.bowiestate.edu website.

Submitting a Public Records Request

To request access to releasable records not otherwise available on the University website, complete the online form below, OR submit a written request by mail to: General Counsel, Attn: Public Information Request, Bowie State University, Henry Administration Building, 14000 Jericho Park Road, Bowie, MD 20715.

Upon receipt of a request, the University will perform a preliminary assessment to determine whether the University is the custodian of the records and whether the requested records may be released in accordance with the law.

The University may charge a reasonable fee for the search, preparation, review and reproduction of a public record. The search and preparation process will begin upon receipt of the estimated fee.  Fees must be paid by check or money order payable to “Bowie State University” and sent to the attention of General Counsel.
