Battelle

Battelle’s founding mission “to translate scientific discovery and technology advances into societal benefit” is as relevant today as when we opened our doors over 90 years ago. Our science and technology enhance society's well-being and creates critical innovations that drive scientific advances for the future. We conduct groundbreaking research and development, design and launch leading-edge products, and deliver critical services for commercial and government customers. Our work meets the needs of the nation when it matters most, and Battelle is committed to driving innovation today and for generations to come.

As a research institution, diversity is one of our strongest assets and we celebrate the characteristics that make every individual different. Our culture reflects our employees’ diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, geographic origins, socioeconomic statuses, communication styles and everything else that makes them unique.

Battelle Funds Internships for HBCU Students

In an effort to increase opportunities to succeed for underrepresented students in scientific fields, Battelle is committing to support students from Bowie State University and Morgan State University as they progress from the classroom to internships to employment. It is the first milestone of the HBCU Consortium, a Battelle program established to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The HBCU Consortium initially will be seeded by student externship opportunities that will evolve to include joint seminars, mentorship opportunities, participation on thesis committees and research collaborations and employment at Battelle. Students from Bowie State in Bowie, Maryland and Morgan State in Baltimore, Maryland will be the first to work with Battelle scientists and engineers with the intention of expanding the program to other HBCUs.
