Cyber Operations Engineering Major
As cyber threats continue to grow and evolve over time, so does the need for bold experts ready to tackle the challenges that come with keeping the internet safe. In Bowie State’s cyber operations engineering program, students gain a broad understanding of the techniques, technology, systems and policy related to cybersecurity.
Our graduates are prepared to be leaders in the industry with a thorough knowledge of the associated security concerns, social and legal implications, and military and law enforcement organizations authorized to execute specialized protective operations.
BSU’s cybersecurity programs are designated by the National Security Agency as models of excellence in Cyber Defense Education.
This unique program combines math, computer science, electrical engineering and cyber operations concepts to help students build their expertise in multiple areas of the cyber defense field. Cyber operations engineering is a comprehensive program beyond what cybersecurity degrees offer.
As a cyber operations engineering major, you will:
- Demonstrate both offensive and defensive cyber operations such as system attack, infiltration, exploitation, defense, mitigation and recovery competencies.
- Master the principles, methods and tools used in the design and implementation of embedded systems.
- Explore security operations, process control, network security, threat reduction, incident response and other cybersecurity-related positions.
- Understand intrusion detections, information assurance, cyber warfare, domestic and international hacking laws and the anatomy of a cyber-attack.
