Due to inclement weather, Bowie State University will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026. All classes, office operations and on-campus activities are canceled. Residence halls will remain open. Concentrations

The Department of Fine and Prerforming Arts offers five Concentrations for Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts Majors. Through these programs, students gain expertise in specific areas of visual communications and digital media arts to become adequately prepared for life after graduation.

Minors

The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers minors in visual communication & digital media arts (VCDMA) for non-majors. Through these programs, students gain expertise in specific areas of visual communication and media arts to become adequately prepared for life after graduation. Bowie State University is the first and only HBCU to offer an exciting new minor in Hip-Hop Studies and Visual Culture.
