Innovation for Wellness in Public Health Informatics
Turn your passions of helping your community into a career with a degree in Public Health Informatics & Technology — PHIT. This fast-growing field explores the wide variety of technologies that support healthcare providers and services. Our students ask big questions about our society and its wellness. To find answers, we use a combination of data analysis programs and lab experiences. Once you complete the program, you will have the skills to lead a successful endeavor to support the healthcare of everyday citizens across the nation.
What Can I Do with Public Health Informatics?
Public Health Informatics and Technology teaches you about data collection and healthcare management. PHIT students can go on to successful roles in the CDC and local health departments or pivot into medical records at hospitals. Some common careers include:
- Medical Coder, Healthcare IT Project Manager
- Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, Electronic Health Records IT Specialist
- Systems/Network Engineer

Bowie State is situated near the intersection of D.C., Maryland and Virginia, which makes it ideal for gaining experience in the healthcare industry. This includes the health departments in Baltimore and D.C. and award-winning facilities including the Holy Cross Hospital, which is only a 20-minute drive from campus.

Scholarships
