Resident Mentors
Residential Mentor Positions
Resident mentors collaborate with Bulldog Scholars Academy staff to build inclusive living-learning communities. Serving as first points of contact outside the classroom, Resident Mentors assist scholars with the transition between high school and college and the negotiation between their academic and social lives.
Duties and Expectations
- Build rapport with students in the residence halls through informal and formal interactions.
- Plan and execute meetings and activities in the residence halls and other campus locations.
- Model Bowie State University’s core values.
- Communicate university policies and standards.
- Connect students with campus resources.
- Mediate conflict.
- Facilitate community building and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with academic staff.
- Assist with resident check-in and check-out.
- Assist with off-campus co-curricular experiences.
- Participate in staff meetings and leadership development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Undergraduate with at least 45 credits
- Strong inter-personal skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead
- Demonstrated knowledge of campus resources
- No judicial or residence life infractions
