The Technology Transfer and Innovation Office at Bowie State University is dedicated to identifying impactful research and fostering the development of essential resources for managing and protecting intellectual property, as well as facilitating technology transfer and commercialization.
This office collaborates closely with the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs, various research centers on campus, the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center, and the Economic Development Office. Collectively, a comprehensive strategy to help Bowie State University maximize its intellectual property assets is being developed. This strategy focuses on assessing university assets related to intellectual property policies, processes, and ecosystems to pinpoint improvement areas and opportunities. It aims to engage, educate, and train faculty, students, and other university stakeholders in these processes.
Technology Transfer & Innovation Office Goals
- Cultivate a culture of innovation across the campus that benefits students, faculty, the university, and its stakeholders.
- Foster collaboration and partnerships with industry, supporting faculty-led ventures and enabling students to engage in pioneering research.
- Enhance support for protecting intellectual property, transferring technology, commercializing technologies and other innovative products at BSU.
- Provide education, training, and expertise to all university stakeholders in intellectual property, technology transfer, and commercialization.
- Establish long-term, sustainable strategic ecosystems within the university and its surrounding community.
