BSU Alumni and Admissions Work Together to Lure New Students

The Bowie State University Alumni Association held an informative reception in an effort to meet its goal of drawing prospective students to BSU through a cooperative effort with the Office of Admissions.
The Office of Admissions joined with the National Alumni Association on Oct. 7 to develop ways to recruit outstanding new students to the university. The Alumni and Volunteer Reception was held in the Business and Graduate Studies Building on campus. Representatives from the Office of Admissions highlighted the admission rate of students in the surrounding area, transfer students, enrollment, affordability, among other topics. The presentation was designed to showcase the university’s recruitment initiatives.
Although the goal of the Office of Admissions is to coordinate recruitment, the collaboration with university faculty, staff, students, and alumni serve as an effective team of supporting recruiters, organizers said. The recruitment initiatives highlight the university’s attributes through opportunities available to its feeder high schools, community programs, college fairs, and community colleges. The Alumni Association and Office of Admissions seek out these opportunities by presenting visitors to the campus and responding to request for information, organizers said.
