Veterans Day Message from President Mickey L. Burnim
2013 Veterans Day Message
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." --John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:
Today, please join the rest of the nation, the Bowie State University leadership team, and me in paying tribute to our military veterans who have served the United States as members of our armed forces. Throughout our history, these brave servicemen and women have answered the call of duty to defend our country and to spread democracy to nations around the world.
As their fellow Americans, we often take for granted the personal sacrifices they have made in safeguarding the principles of freedom upon which our great nation was founded. I am confident you will agree that we owe our veterans the utmost gratitude for their service at home and abroad.
On this Veterans Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to those who have served in the past, as well as express our appreciation to the men and women and their families who continue to make the ultimate commitment and sacrifice in service to our country in defense of the liberty and freedom of all. Let’s give a special salute to our very own Bowie State University veterans and active duty servicemen and women—students, faculty, staff, and family members—who have and continue to secure a peaceful future for America.
With abiding respect and humble thanks, let us remember to keep these patriots in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Mickey L. Burnim
